Breathe + Flow Pilates
When I started Pilates, I instantly loved it. I knew I wanted to pursue this as a form of exercise for myself and soon realised the potential of Pilates to help others improve their overall health as well. My aim is to teach the Pilates movements so you can do them correctly and thus gain the most benefit from the time you spend exercising.

Comfortable clothing that you can move freely in is a must for Mat Pilates, leggings are great! Pilates socks can be helpful to provide a firm grip when exercising.
At Breathe + Flow Pilates I have small class sizes so it is great to know if you will be attending or not. Regularly attending classes will result in the best improvements for you so I do encourage you to keep your class times where possible.
I understand that life gets busy and certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose to pay-as-you-go for individual classes, or purchase a 10 class pack that is valid for 12 weeks. If you are going on holidays, you can always pause your class pack.
My Mat Pilates classes are small with a maximum of 6 people. Because Pilates is all about correct technique, I like to be able to ensure each person is supported in their exercising and given the attention they need to complete the exercises correctly. Learning the correct techniques is important and takes time. You’re free to ask questions in class and I’ll help you develop your technique as you get stronger.
Something is always better than nothing – 1 class is great, but 2 is even better and will result in improvement faster.
You are welcome to learn. At any age, Pilates is a great workout for the mind and body. We should never stop learning something new and I am here to support and encourage you as you start the journey of Mat Pilates. I take it slowly to ensure that each person understands the exercise and with helpful cues you’ll learn how to use the correct muscles to ensure you are getting the maximum benefit from each exercise.
Mat Pilates is a great form of exercise for just about anyone at any age. The purpose of Mat Pilates is to increase strength and mobility, to improve your posture and help your body move the way it is intended to move – with freedom of motion – for everyday activities. We call this ‘functional movement’.
If you have pre-existing conditions it’s always advisable to check with your doctor before beginning a new exercise program. And be sure to let your instructor know if you have any injuries or conditions that may affect your ability to exercise. Mat Pilates is a gentle form of exercise that can be performed at different levels so can be personalised to cater for your physical needs.
I have completed the Mat Pilates Instructor Course through the internationally renowned BASI Pilates.

Generally after a Mat Pilates class the pain is minimal compared to other forms of exercise. The flow of Matwork exercises ensures that the entire body gets a workout. This may mean some muscles get used more than they are used to which could cause some discomfort to those muscles for a day or two. This is quite normal. If you do experience any pain after a class that is beyond this, advise your instructor before your next class.
The improvements gained from Mat Pilates are continual and ongoing as you continue your program. I believe after every class you should be feeling great – like your body has had a good workout. Clients often comment that they feel energised, that they’ve had a good stretch and they feel in better alignment. Usually, after about 8 – 10 classes people start to notice an improvement, whether it be in their posture or movement, it depends on the individual and what your personal goals are.
